Reprimand - 40 Hour RBT® Online Training

Reprimand

Reprimand is a form of verbal correction in which the teacher, therapist, or caregiver tells the learner to stop engaging in a particular behavior. Reprimands are typically used to decrease the likelihood of the behavior occurring again in the future.

Example

A child is running in the hallway, and a teacher says, “Stop running!” The verbal reprimand informs the child that their behavior is not acceptable, and the goal is to reduce the occurrence of running in the hallway in the future.
