Proximity Prompt - 40 Hour RBT® Online Training

Proximity Prompt

A Proximity Prompt is a type of prompt used in teaching where the correct response stimulus is positioned closer to the learner than other stimuli. This subtle change in the environment helps guide the learner toward making the correct response by making the correct choice more accessible or obvious.

Example

If a teacher is helping a student choose the correct shape from a group of shapes (e.g., triangle, circle, square), they might place the correct shape (triangle) closer to the student than the others. The proximity of the correct shape makes it more likely the student will choose it, aiding in the learning process.
