This comprehensive ACT for ABA course explores how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be integrated into applied behavior analysis practice. Originally developed by Steven C. Hayes, ACT is an evidence-based behavioral approach. It combines mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and behavior-change techniques to improve psychological flexibility.
Designed for behavior technicians and ABA professionals, this course addresses common challenges in the field. These include burnout, workplace stress, and emotional fatigue. Learners are introduced to ACT-informed strategies that support stress management and burnout prevention. All strategies remain aligned with ethical guidelines and scope-of-practice expectations.
Throughout the course, participants explore the six core ACT processes and how they support professional resilience, including:
-
acceptance of difficult thoughts and emotions
-
cognitive defusion to reduce unhelpful thinking
-
present-moment awareness during daily work
-
self-as-context to build perspective and flexibility
-
values clarification to guide professional behavior
-
committed action aligned with personal and professional values
By applying these ACT principles, behavior technicians strengthen emotional regulation, resilience, and long-term effectiveness in ABA practice.
