This informative ABA webinar for behavior technicians introduces the definition, importance, and practical application of choice-making instruction for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. Learners will explore why teaching choice-making skills is a critical component of ethical, client-centered ABA practice and how these skills support independence, engagement, and quality of life.
The course examines the role of assent and assent withdrawal as outlined in the BACB® Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts (2022), emphasizing how honoring client assent promotes student dignity, autonomy, and humane treatment. Behavior technicians will gain a clear understanding of how assent aligns with ethical decision-making, instructional planning, and daily implementation of behavior-analytic interventions.
Participants will be introduced to evidence-based strategies for teaching and promoting choice-making behaviors, including methods that increase learner participation, reduce resistance, and enhance social validity of treatment goals and procedures. By strengthening choice-making and assent-based practices, learners will be better equipped to support student willingness to learn, improve instructional outcomes, and uphold ethical standards in ABA settings.
Course access is provided for three (3) years from the date of purchase.
